475 is known for providing the materials you need to create the highest performance, lowest-carbon building, but is probably best recognized by our knowledge resources and providing the AEC industry with the tools to get the job done right. One of these tools is also one of the simplest: the Airtight Building Sign.
First released in 2013, this sign (which is included on the back of our Pro Clima brochure found in every sample pack) has become something of a calling card. Our sign was even used as a prop during the climax of the 2024 Netflix movie, Carry-On. For many builders and tradespeople across North America, it’s been their first introduction to the idea that clear, consistent signage can actively support the success of an airtight building assembly. By posting these signs at critical points throughout the jobsite, teams can reinforce best practices and prevent costly and avoidable damage to the air barrier.

Why Does It Matter?
In Passive House and other high-performance construction, the air barrier is a primary control layer, second only to the water control layer. While training and supervision are essential, visual cues like this sign serve as constant reminders that airtightness is everyone’s responsibility.
We encourage architects, builders, and site managers (the "Air Boss" as we like to say), to print and post anywhere that work is underway.
